Hi Mark,
What an excellent article! I’m so glad I found it.
I work in a mainly male dominated area. (building supply store)
And while the flirts can be felt day in and out by different parties I find that I am not really “connecting” with anyone in particular.
Well ok one… he picked me, got my number, we became friends and so on, its been over a year and we still have not connected the way I would like.
So, I am a single lady, and have been for a few years. Guys flirt, I flirt back, I seem to get no where. Some of them are married and I don’t want to go there.. Can’t seem to get a connection with the single guys. Guys think I am attached. When I tell them I am not, it’s like they are told I have H1N1!
I don’t diss my ex, I don’t think I sound desperate to any of them. I am very happy with the life I have, just sometimes I want to share it with someone.
I didn’t know what was going on until I read this article and I am thinking perhaps my humour is sending them off.
I am the joker at work, I have a comeback for almost anything and usually very quickly.. perhaps then, I am not laughing at their jokes, I am laughing at mine?
Now I think of it, the girls at work are the ones that find me funniest.. the guys I work with and my male boss not so much?
Sure is food for thought and I will try to hold back some of my humour for them now.
Men, you’re a funny bunch, we laugh at your jokes, you like that as is seems to flatter your ego, we dare crack a joke and it’s an intimate relationship threat and we get dumped in the friend zone?
