    Hi Mark,

Some great suggestions there. I’ve noticed that after I’ve not phoned someone for a few days, even a normally easy call is very, very difficult.

I’ve found that planning out exactly what I want to say, and what I want to get out of a call, and writing it out on a notepad in front of me makes it a lot easier to get over that last surge of fear that comes as you reach for the phone.

    Hugs,
    Nathan

Thanks for a fantastic article. At the end of the article, I read “Mark Tyrrell has created a hypnosis download on fear telephone. You can win this by being the first to” .. and Oh My goodness I started to sweat.. adrenaline was pumping.. I honestly thought the next words would be “by being the first caller on the line” ...!!! I thought you’d make us call on the telephone to win! Of course-I freaked out :-o

So.. I went back & re-read your article and this time .. listening to the audio provided (..didn’t skip it this time around!) it was fantastic. If it wasn’t 11pm, I’d probably get on the phone & call somebody!

Very informative and so real. I spent my life on the phones. My dad once said “you have such a great phone voice!”. I was only 13. For the next 15 years I was always on the phone (training, service, collecting money, then my own clients, etc). In the last 10 years or so, something happened. Not sure what. I just bombed and rarely answer the phone anymore (unless it’s the 2 people that are close to me).. nor can I call out. Even the picture of the Telephone you used in the article scared me terribly. I cheat now & just use sms or emails. It’s affected my relationships/friendships, family, child’s schooling and definitely clients - including future business. Definitely a shame.. seeing I am so friendly & have so much bubble! [and also seeing I have so many great new business ideas .. but can’t deal with the phone]

Reading this has given me confidence to do something about it. I think environment has a lot to do with it as well. I worked out that if I get up and experience things (a long walk, a chat with someone) whilst out of the house early in the day, I seem to handle this anxiety much better for the rest of the day & answer all incoming calls - sometimes even making outgoing calls!!

    Thanks again. xx

I think that the big challenge with people who are afraid of the phone is self-esteem. Everything we think, feel, do and the results we get are a direct result of what we believe about ourselves. So changing our beliefs around our ability to talk to people is a good strategy. Thanks for the great article.

I have an immense fear of talking on the phone. Not only that but when I do, I cannot understand what the other person is saying. I have Asperger’s syndrome and always chalked it up to being an oddball trait of that. I never even knew this was something a lot of people have until an hour ago when my room mate mentioned that she used to have a terrible fear of phones that she overcame. Then I looked it up and found this article.

It is weirdly comforting to know I am not alone.
