When presented in such a common sense fashion, it really makes one wonder why they would continue such a silly habit. Its true that the tobacco industry has done a remarkable job to make us THINK we can’t give up a habit that is making them millions, and costing the end user their health. What a deal for them! I need a hook up like that! Your no nonsense approach, and the simplicity of the facts is spot on! As always, you guys make the most seemingly complicated issues easy to overcome. As always, thanks for the brilliant, clever insight in to the human psyche.
You have certainly hit the ‘nail’ on the head here. It’s so, so easy to find excuses for not quiting smoking, and I think you have mentioned all of the self-deception that us smokers use.
As a smoker I can relate to all that you have written in this article. A couple of years ago I stopped smoking, and I found it pretty easy to do. I was even lighting cigarettes up for my partner as he was driving, and still didn’t want one myself. I was amazed. I thought I had just reached that point where I had out-grown them. Seven days later, I got into a very upsetting situation, and yes, you’ve guessed it, I reached for a cigarette. I so regret that, and don’t understand why I did it, it had been so easy not to smoke. Your article has given me inspiration to go for it again. I have so much to live happy and healthy for. Thank you.
